How Google's AI Agent Plans Your Next Vacation

Let’s say I live in Berlin and want to book a three-day trip to Barcelona with friends.

We want to see the local attractions, museums, and other popular tourist attractions.

We need to compare flights, hotels, find local restaurants for dinner, and coordinate the admin between the travelers.

This is pretty easy with Google Gemini’s tools.

It’s essentially an AI agent connected to Google’s most popular services: Gmail, Flights, Hotels, Maps and others.

You can use them via an “@“ in the chat box:

Try it out yourself at gemini.google.com.

To stay organized for the trip we want to create:

  1. An email with:

    • Flight details to compare

    • Hotels to compare

    • A YouTube playlist with energizing music for the trip

  2. A checklist with interesting venues and attractions

  3. Calendar events for dinner restaurants

Each boldly marked word above has its own tool inside Gemini. These components can communicate with each other, so we never have to leave the chat.

To start out, let’s ask the Gemini agent to find flights for this spring:

Looks pretty good. I can now either continue on the Google Flights page or continue in the chat window. Since we want to do everything in one app, we’ll continue here. I select the third flight. Then I proceed the same way with the return flights.

Now I’m looking for a place to sleep:

The first three look good. Then let’s get a proper travel playlist together!

Now that we have all ingredients for our email, we ask Gemini to compose a draft.

It’s not yet able to create the draft inside my inbox (it can only read my emails), but it’s a good starting point.

Next we’re looking for interesting things to see in Barcelona:

We use them to create a checklist: @Google Keep take these points of interest and create a checklist with boxes. we want to tick them off as we're visiting them. include the venue's name, its address, and a one-line short description of it.

Because this tool has access to my Google Workspace, it actually created a checklist inside Keep:

It actually created a

Finally we want to find a restaurants with traditional Catalan food to eat dinner each night. I can combine tools in a single prompt (here Maps and Calendar) to find restaurants and add them to my calendar:

i'm planning to make a vacation trip to barcelona in the weekend of the 2nd to 4th of may 2025 (this year).

you're a travel planner and i want you to do two things:

1. @Google Maps find a list of three (3) restaurants with traditional catalan food where we can have dinner at each evening of our stay.
2. @Google Calendar then create an event for each of the three days to for dinner at 8:00 PM. each evening we'll go to a different one of the three found restaurants. in each event, fill in the title of the restaurant, its address, and plan it for two hours.

The agent has done the research in the background (see top of the screenshot) and drafted the events.

I confirm and they’re in my calendar!

To wrap up, what we did was:

  • Research flights, hotels, and a playlist for the trip and packed them into an email

  • Create a checklist with the important attractions

  • Research restaurants and create calendar events for each evening

This tool combination is powerful. Although a simple example, I hope you can see the way these tools are being used together, opening up different use-cases for processing data and integrating different systems.

This setup is ready-to-use, all tools are integrated with your Google suite. You just log in with your account and start prompting.
